O The Laboratory of Technological Neuroinnovation & Brain Mapping (NiTLab) focuses on research applied to innovation in technology associated with electroencephalographic analysis and neurofunctional physiotherapy. Under the coordination of neuroscientist professor Dr. Silmar Teixeira, NiTLab is headquartered at the Federal University of Delta do Parnaíba (UFDPar), in Parnaíba city, on the Piauí coast. The laboratory has multidisciplinary researchers, especially in the areas of Health and Technology, at scientific initiation, master's, doctoral and post-doctoral levels. As a result of the research, technological innovations are developed, based on applications, serious games and wearable devices using Artificial Intelligence techniques, especially Machine Learning and Computer Vision, so aiming to contribute with solutions that help different problems in the health area.
Game therapy is a treatment technique performed using electronic games (i.e., serious games) to provide (re)habilitation of physical and/or cognitive disabilities, then aiming to enable a motivating environment for the recovery or development of skills and motor perceptual capabilities. By using playful and interactive components, serious games go beyond simple entertainment, they enhance the user experience in specific contexts such as wellness, education and health. Social game therapy aims, through the use of low-cost technologies and wide insertion in society, to make the treatment accessible to the greatest number of patients and health professionals.
